1. The only country in the Americas with which India is negotiating a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement – Canada. It will provides excellent investment opportunities for Indian companies in service sectors.

2. India is going to adopt 3D technology for massive police modernization. USA will provide this technology to India.

3. Rafel Nadal won his 6th French Open title when he defeated Roger Federer in the men’s single final. With this feat he has equalled the record of Bjorn Borg.

4. JCT Phagwara has decided to disband its popular football club, starting lack of exposure and visibility as the reason behind the decision.

5. The government has launched a new index of Industrial production, which seeks to offer a better gauge of the country’s industrial activity. The new index has a revised base of 2004-05. The old index had the base year set at 1993-94.

6. Flagship explorer ONGC has achieved record volume of gas production from the Bassein field, well past its life expectancy. Bassein field is located in Arabian sea.

7. The Government commissioned a study to be undertaken by three top economic think tanks to estimate the extent of black money or unaccounted income generated both within and outside the country. The institutes involved in the study are : National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, National institute of Financial Management and National Council of Applied Economic Research.

8. UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon has been approved a second five year term. It is normal for an incumbent to serve two 5year terms, although one secretary general – Boutrous Boutros Ghali served only one term.

9. Gladwyn Jebb had served as the acting Secretary General of UN from October 1945 to Feburary 1946 until the appointment of the first secretary general Trygve Lie.

10. India is going to spend around Rs 10,000 crore on major expansion of the strategic Karwar Naval base , in Coastal Karnataka.

11. India’s longest tunnel at 11km connecting Qazigund with Banihal- will be constructed within a year. At present, Karbude tunnel(6.5km) of the Konkan Railway is the longest tunnel in India.

12. The world’s highest railway bridge- five times the height of Qutub Minar and 35m taller than Eiffel Tower – will come over the Chenab river. The project is executed by the Konkan Railway Corporation.

13. India has recently notified the double taxation avoidance agreement with Mozambique.
